Marbella is gearing up for an exceptional week with two mountain running events: the 10th edition of the Sierra Blanca Mountain Race and the Marbella Epic Trail. These competitions stand out not only for their level of challenge but also for giving participants the chance to enjoy the region’s breathtaking natural landscapes, firmly establishing Marbella as a key destination for mountain sports.

Marbella, 4th October 2024. – Sierra Blanca Week will not only attract runners from across Spain but will also feature participants from over 30 countries, reaffirming Marbella as a sustainable, inclusive sporting destination in harmony with nature on the Costa del Sol.
The inaugural event, the 10th edition of the Sierra Blanca mountain race, will take place on 8th February 2025. This race offers options adapted to different levels of participants:
Destroyer (42 km, 2800 m) – Starts at 8:00 a.m.
Knee-breaker (29 km, 1900 m) – Starts at 9:00 a.m.
Hiking and Trekking (12 km, 700 m) – Starts at 10:00 a.m.
All distances feature an inclusive format, following the model of the last edition, encouraging participation from anyone wishing to join. Runners have until 6:00 p.m. to complete their routes and, upon finishing, can enjoy a festive atmosphere with activities such as massages, shared dining, and live music.
Additionally, cash prizes will be awarded to the first woman and first man to reach the emblematic peak at La Cruz de Juanar and complete the race, adding an extra competitive incentive. The race will be certified by ITRA and grant points towards the UTMB.
During this special week, international visitors can enjoy Marbella’s privileged climate and celebrate Valentine’s Day while experiencing this exclusive sporting event.
The week will conclude on 15th February with the Marbella Epic Trail (MET), one of the first ultra races of the year in Spain and one of the few that spans from the Mediterranean coast to the mountains. This challenging 62 km course with +4,700 m of elevation will cross the municipalities of Marbella, Ojén, Monda, and Istán, offering participants breathtaking views and an unparalleled technical challenge.
The Marbella Epic Trail (MET) has been rated Level 9 by ITRA and will award cash prizes to the first man and woman who reach the iconic peak of La Concha (1,215 m) and finish within the race’s time limit.
After the physical exertion of the competitions, runners will enjoy an exclusive post-race celebration featuring showers, massages, a barbecue, and a buffet. The awards ceremony will be held against the majestic backdrop of La Concha peak, with special gifts for all finishers.
An International Escape on the Costa del Sol
With participants from over 30 countries, Sierra Blanca Week has established itself as a sporting and tourist event right in the heart of the Costa del Sol. Coinciding with Valentine’s Day, this week offers a unique blend of sport, nature, and an idyllic getaway, making it one of the world’s most exclusive mountain destinations.
Both events meet the highest standards of sustainability; the use of single-use plastics is banned, and reusable, recyclable materials are encouraged, while collective transport options are promoted to minimise CO₂ emissions. Additionally, participants will have access to allergy- and diet-friendly food options, ensuring that everyone can maximise their experience.
