Logistical Change – Marbella Epic Trail
Start and finish at the same location
In order to optimise logistics and enhance the overall event experience, the finish line will be located at the same point as the start, at Plaza del Mar Shopping Centre.
To ensure participant safety and fairness in timing, a time-neutralisation system will be implemented at the crossing of Av. Bulevar Príncipe Alfonso de Hohenlohe.
The course will include two consecutive timing points:
Finish A (pre-crossing): located before the holding area.
Finish B (post-crossing): located immediately after the pedestrian crossing.
The timing system will automatically subtract the time elapsed between Finish A and Finish B, meaning that the road-crossing section will not be counted in the runner’s official time.
In the results, a specific split will appear identified as: “Bulevar Crossing (neutralised)”, ensuring full equality of conditions for all participants.
We are aware that, due to the heavy rainfall and strong winds experienced in southern Spain over the past few weeks, many of you may be wondering whether the race will take place as planned.
We would like to reassure you:
The Sierra Blanca terrain has not been significantly affected, thanks to its natural characteristics and drainage, and therefore the Marbella Epic Trail is confirmed to take place as scheduled.
However, for safety reasons, minor adjustments may be made to the course, should any streams, currently above their usual levels, fail to subside.
In such a case:
The updated course tracks will be published on the website, and
They will also be shared via this same channel through an additional communication.
Please ensure you remain attentive to future updates to stay fully informed.
Upcoming communications:
18–19/02: Weather forecast
This update is primarily dedicated to the main change implemented since 2025: Start and Finish will be at the same location.
We have uploaded the updated GPX track to our website under the section “Downloads & Useful Links”, together with the Google Maps link for your reference. It is essential that you download the GPX file as soon as possible and use it as your primary reference.
You must follow the course markers (balizas) and official signage at all times. If you cover more than 100 metres without seeing a marker, immediately check the track on your watch or GPS device and return to the last confirmed marker.
Regardless of fatigue — especially in the final section of the race — it is crucial to remain fully attentive to the markers and signage.
The attached images will help you better understand the re-entry into the urban area during the final 2 km.
⚠️ IMPORTANT – FINAL SECTION INSTRUCTIONS:
• Under no circumstances should you return via the same ascent route after exiting the path through the golf course area. You must turn RIGHT.
• You must descend on the LEFT-hand side of the road at all times, where the course markers are positioned. Do not attempt to cut off a few metres by crossing to the right-hand side, as there are side roads and potential traffic hazards.
Upon reaching the road where the “Pirulí” landmark is visible, turn right in front of Starbucks and cross the first timing point only when the pedestrian light is green. If the light is red, you must wait and respect the order of arrival. At this point, your race time will be paused.
After crossing the first pedestrian crossing towards Starbucks, proceed to the next pedestrian crossing opposite the Palacio de Congresos. You must cross only when the pedestrian light is green, heading towards the Palacio de Congresos, as shown in the attached image.
On the opposite side, you will find the second timing point, where your race time will restart.
From there, follow the track back towards the same path you previously used via the stream from the Paseo Marítimo. Continue to follow the markers and the GPX track at all times.
The race will not pass through the village of Ojén due to an official cycling event taking place. Instead, the route will go via Cerezal.
Please inform your supporters so they do not wait in the village of Ojén.
You can follow our official social media channels at @marbellaepictrail (IG and Fb). Whenever coverage allows, we will be receiving images and videos from within the race itself, which will be shared across our official platforms.
